Four Whitechapel and Spitalfields venues join for a free day-to-night programme of live performance, workshops, installations and participatory art. Whitechapel Gallery hosts ropemaking and local-history sessions before an 18:00–23:00 DAYTIMERS takeover featuring contemporary South Asian artistry, live music, performance, poetry, film, workshops and stalls.
The party runs across Whitechapel Gallery, Fredrica’s, House of Annetta and Spitalfields City Farm. It is free and drop-in; RSVP is requested but does not guarantee entry, and venues may use queues or one-in/one-out access when full. Accessibility differs by venue, so visitors should check the official access notes before choosing activities.
The Gallery Cafe at St Margaret’s House, 21 Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green, London E2 9PL
St Margaret’s House and Remark’s Community Team host a first-Friday D/deaf Cafe for informal conversation using British Sign Language. ‘Voices off’ is encouraged, and each monthly session includes a guest presentation followed by time for questions, conversation, signing practice and games. It is not a formal BSL class.
The free session is aimed at adults, though adults who need to bring children may do so. Visitors can drop in between 16:00 and 19:00; reserving a free ticket helps the organiser estimate numbers. Step-free entry is through the rear garden gate, and an accessible toilet can be arranged by contacting the venue.
Victoria Park – The Glade; meet at Bonner Gate, Sewardstone Road, Bethnal Green, London E2 9JW
St Margaret’s House runs gentle 45-minute slow-flow yoga classes at The Glade in Victoria Park, led by Áine and suitable for all abilities. Participants should bring a yoga mat or towel. The organiser may move or cancel classes in especially wet or windy weather and will email booked attendees.
Classes take place at 12:00 and 13:00 on 6 and 21 August, then 3 and 11 September. They are free, but booking is required because spaces are limited. Ages 13+ are welcome; under-18s must attend with an adult.
Imagining Animals brings roaming non-verbal puppetry, music and movement to the Tower of London. Led by Mervyn Millar and Suzy Willson, its creatures draw on animals from around the world and the Tower’s former Royal Menagerie.
Performances occur at various times and locations from 11:00–16:00 on 19–31 August, excluding 25 August; there is no fixed map or timetable. It is suitable for all ages and included with Tower admission. Standard admission is £37 for adults and £18.50 for children aged 5–15; under-fives and members enter free. Tower Hamlets residents can buy £1 same-day admission, subject to capacity.
Raven Row presents a group exhibition including Sandra Mujinga and artists working across sculpture, performance, writing, photography and video. Curated by Imani Mason Jordan, the show explores Black feminist materiality and runs until 6 September 2026.
Waterperry Opera Festival and Charles Court Opera bring Donizetti’s comic opera The Elixir of Love to Wilton’s Music Hall with a new English libretto by David Eaton. The production is directed by John Wilkie and musically directed by Eaton.
The run opens at 19:00 on 8 September and continues to 19 September. Performances last 140 minutes. Full-price tickets are £14.50–£32, with concessions from £12–£29.50, and booking is open through Wilton’s official page. No event-specific audience or access rule is stated.
