The Gothique Film Society presents a tribute to stop-motion effects maestro Ray Harryhausen at The Cinema Museum in Kennington on Friday 6 November 2026. Doors open at 6pm and the event starts at 7pm. Tickets are £8, from TicketLab, by calling the Museum on 020 7840 2200 in office hours, or on the door subject to availability. Artist and sculptor Al Friswell, who conserves the creatures Harryhausen created, gives an illustrated presentation on Harryhausen's life and career, covering his 'Dynamation' technique and films such as It Came from Beneath the Sea (1955), The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958), The Valley of Gwangi (1969), The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973) and Clash of the Titans (1981). He then introduces one of Harryhausen's earliest films, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953), in which atom bomb blasts in the Arctic cause 'something' to stir to life. Refreshments are available in the Museum's licensed cafe and bar. The Cinema Museum is at 2 Dugard Way, off Renfrew Road, London SE11 4TH, near Elephant and Castle and Kennington stations.
